Busy day for Station 61

The morning started with back to back medical assists. Then around 0830 Rescue 61 was dispatched to I-83 and Freeland Rd in Baltimore County for an auto accident with entrappment. Crews from Baltimore county arrived with a subject trapped in a car that had rolled over several times. At approx. 1300hrs, engine 61-1 was alerted for a fill in at York county Station 34 (Red Lion). Crews from 34 were on a multi-alarm building fire. The crew then went to Hardees for some lunch. While at Hardees, a structure fire was dispatched in Dallastown. Command 34 (at the multi-alarm fire) advised York to add Engine 61-1 to the call. This afternoon around 5:14pm crews from Shrewsbury Volunteers along with New Freedom, Glen Rock, and Eureka fire companies responded to a chimney fire in Shrewsbury Borough. Upon arrival Chief 61, Myers, reported a working chimney fire. Crews from Engine 61-1 arrived and laddered the roof after checking the dwelling for any extensions in the walls and attic. Car accident on I-83, down an embankment

Shrewsbury Fire Company was dispatched for a vehicle accident on I-83 NB at 1606hrs today. Rescue 61 arrived and reported a single vehicle on its side down a 30 foot embankment. EMS crews determined that both patients needed to be back boarded and transported to the awaiting ambulances. 61 crews along with members from Md. Baltimore County Engine 452 was alerted for the same accident which was believed to be in Baltimore County. At approximately 12:50pm a first alarm assignment was dispatched for a possible chimney fire on Deil Court in Shrewsbury Township. Shrewsbury Volunteers along with New Freedom, Glen Rock, Loganville and Winterstown fire departments responded on the call.
