The Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Company is currently accepting applications for new membership. You can serve as a cadet, an active crew member, a social member, or an auxiliary member. As long as you are at least 14 years in age and have a desire to help your community and try new and exciting things, then stop by the fire house at 21 West Forrest Ave Shrewsbury PA 17361 on any Thursday night to pick up an application, or start the application process with the provided link.

As an Auxiliary member, you would help with banquets, bingo, carnival, and other fund-raising activities. The auxiliary also, provides refreshments during an extended fire call.
A social member assists with fund-raising activities as their schedule permits.
Cadet status begins at the age of 14 and ends when he or she turns 18, here is where the cadet will receive a lot of in- house training, and classroom training. Cadets are limited to time they can spend at the fire house. While school is in and out of session the child labor laws are in affect. Cadets are not allowed to ride the fire apparatus until the age of 16, and can not fight interior fire until the age of 18 after completing several classes. Cadets can perform in fire company functions like training, parades, and any fund raisers that are held.
A crew member will respond to emergency calls. This includes: Fires, medical emergencies, vehicle accidents, special rescues, and public services. As a crew member you will receive formal and in-house training. You will respond when you are available. You will not be tied to a formal schedule. With a $50 deposit, you will receive a pager that will alert you to each and every emergency we are called to.
With every applicant there is a minimum three month probation period where the applicant is allowed into the fire house, at any time during this period, as long as there is a senior member present. We have a mentor program where the applicant will complete different task and learn different things about the fire house with a senior member from week to week. After these three months, the applicant will then be voted on by the senior company members, for membership of the Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Company.
