The Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Company is proud to display compliance with York County's rescue/heavy rescue inspection program.
Shrewsbury Volunteers Heavy Rescue 61 is now re-certified in both York County, PA as well as Baltimore County, MD. According to the York County Fire Chiefs and Firefighters Association in order to be called a rescue or heavy rescue departments must be inspected against an established list of equipment that must be carried on the unit. Shrewsbury without hesitation proceeded with the inspection program and was the second unit in York County to be certified. Leo Fire Co. of Red Lion was inspected first. Along with the other departments in York County who have taken the time and pride to be declared a rescue/heavy rescue Shrewsbury Station 61 is proud to display the decal proving that status.
Shrewsbury also is certified in Baltimore County, MD as a heavy rescue. The requirements for Baltimore County included additional equipment than what was carried for York County. Shrewsbury met those requirements and responds as a first due heavy rescue in portions of Baltimore County, MD.
The distinction of being certified in both York and Baltimore County as a heavy rescue as well as a primary component of the regional USAR team is a direct reflection of the dedication and training the members of the Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Co. undertake. We obviously take great pride in what we accomplish and can do on the scene of an emergency incident.
Take a look at our equipment and apparatus on October 15, 2011 as we hold our annual Fire Prevention Open House from 10am to 2pm. Our equipment will be on display for the public. We will also hold our Pit Beef Sale on that date for your eating enjoyment. Come out and spend some time with us and meet the personnel who give up their time to keep you safe.
