Today Engine 61-2, after 16 years of service, was placed out of service to be refurbished by Pierce Manufacturing in Appleton Wisconsin. A crew from Station 61 delivered engine 61-2 to Glick Fire Equipment in Bird-in-hand Pa. to begin it’s journey to Wisconsin. The refurbishment will update and or replace several items from the cab, body, pump and engine. The engine should return to Shrewsbury in 3 months.
On the way back from Glick, the members from Station 61 stopped by the Eden Volunteer Fire Company, for a tour and a “pit stop.” 61’s crew was given a tour of the station and the apparatus. The crew from 61 would like to thank Firefighter Dain Yakich for the hospitality.
