A great loss for the Shrewsbury Borough Family

     

Saturday, September 4, 2010 The officers and members of the Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Company wish to extend our deepest sympathy to Shrewsbury Borough Public Works Director Brian Sweitzer in the loss of his wife, Kellie.  She will be greatly missed by all. SHREWSBURY Kellie N. Sweitzer, 39, died Thursday, September 2, 2010, at York Hospital. She was the wife of Brian L. Sweitzer, her husband of eight years. There will be a viewing from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Codorus Church of the Brethren, 1129 Dunkard Valley Road, Dallastown, 17313. The service will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church with pastor Rick Fischl and the Rev. Steven A. Schmuck officiating. Burial will be in Christ Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Shrewsbury. Born August 30, 1971, in York, Kellie attended the Codorus Church of the Brethren. She was a graduate of York County Tech and Harrisburg Area Community College. She was a member of the American Dental Hygienist Association and had been a Dental Hygienist for five years. Kellie possessed a passionate love for life, family, friends, and social gatherings. Her grandparents, Doris and Carroll Rehmeyer, were primary caregivers during her 11 year battle with cancer. She loved working in her immense flower garden. She was an avid runner, devoted to fitness and many outdoor activities. Surviving are her father, Les H. Matthews, Jr. and her stepmother, Bonnie (Howard) Matthews of Stewartstown; her mother, Pamela (Ziegler) Matthews of York; maternal grandparents, Doris Ziegler of Glen Rock and the late Henry L. Ziegler; paternal grandparents, the late Less Matthews, Sr. and Helen Matthews; father-in-law, Ed Sweitzer, and step mother-in-law, Lisa of Shrewsbury; mother-in-law, Dena (Rehmeyer) Landis and her husband, Howie of Hellam; brother, Jeremy Flinchbaugh of Hagerstown, Md,; and three sisters, Penny M. Matthews of Shrewsbury, Jessica A. Matthews of Shrewsbury, and Lori A. Ferree of Minot, N.D. The J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, is in charge of arrangements.
